Kind Of Annoying

Why do so many people say “kind of” and “sort of” these days, instead of just saying what they mean?

Example: John Mayer’s blog is kind of amazing.
Better version: John Mayer’s blog is amazing.

HUGE difference. Just come out and say what you mean. Don’t create a buffer between you and your feelings. If you’re going to write, write honestly and with some courage. Yes, someone can make fun of you because you actually said you liked it. You’re vulnerable. That’s the risk of being a writer, people will read your words and associate them with your identity. And if they’re bad guys or enemies, they might make fun of you. But if you love something, that’s more rewarding then the pain of being mocked by assholes for it.
